Neighbor opens door to find woman being dragged

CRESTVIEW – A 21-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly tried to prevent his girlfriend from leaving by throwing her to the ground and dragging her.

A Crestview Police officer who investigated the incident was told by the apparent victim she found marijuana residue in the kitchen of their Shortwell Avenue residence and decided to pack up her and her children’s things and leave. When the man came home and found her leaving, he became upset and allegedly grabbed her arm, twisting it behind her head, and threw her to the ground.

The woman said she ran next door for help. As the neighbor answered the door, the man grabbed the woman and dragged her off the porch, she said. The neighbor corroborated the woman’s story.

The man and woman live together and have kids together, the arrest report said.

He was charged with battery and has a Jan. 21 plea date.
