FORT WALTON BEACH – A 22-year-old Georgia man was arrested after he told a police officer he lost his wallet, then gave him somebody else’s name, according to a report.

Fort Walton Beach Police officers investigating a brawl at The Block detained the man as being one of the participants. He was put into the back of a patrol car and asked for his ID. The officer wrote in the arrest report the man said he’d lost his wallet during the fight but told the officer his name.

But the officer searched the man and found a wallet in his back pocket. The wallet contained a check made out to a different person. The man then admitted who he was. The officer found the man’s Georgia ID card and Social Security card hidden in his shoe.

A witness said the man struck two security guards during the fracas.

He was charged with disorderly conduct and providing a false name while detained. His plea date is Dec. 31.
