Woman says she hoped to snag $5, $10 in break-in

NICEVILLE – Lawmen say a woman broke into an SUV and stole $9 and a ring.

The incident occurred at Morningbird Court. The woman, 18-year-old Rebecca Christine Pike of Niceville, allegedly entered a Kia SUV and took a small plastic container that held about $9 in change and a diamond toe ring, the vehicle owner told Niceville Police.

Pike admitted opening the door of a “big SUV located near Juniper Drive.” She told police she expected to get $5 or $10 from the break-in.

She said she didn’t know there was a ring in the container and either left it on her table or in a “buddy’s” vehicle.

She was charged with burglary to an unoccupied conveyance unarmed and has a Dec. 23 court date.
