FORT WALTON BEACH — The Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce has raised $14,300 to build the fence at the dog park planned for Liza Jackson Park.
The dog park is scheduled to celebrate its grand opening at this year’s Dog Daze Festival on Oct. 12.
The chamber and several local businesses will continue to raise money in the coming weeks for amenities such as watering stations, pickup stations, and benches.
All of the following events are open to the public:
- Tijuana Flats will host its Yappy Hour on Sept. 26, with Britt Landrum entertaining from 6 to 10 pm. Well-behaved dogs and their humans are welcome. Ten percent of the profits will go to the dog park.
- Chef Jim Shirah of Dewey Destin Harborside, Friends of the City of Fort Walton Beach Dog Park and the Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 29 at Liza Jackson Park. Buffalo Rock Pepsi products will be served. Well-behaved pets on a leash are welcome.
- Howl at the Moon will host a Dollars for Dogs fundraiser at 7 p.m. Oct. 11 at The Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island. Tickets are $10 and are good for admission, a free drink and three free tickets for prize drawings every hour from 8 to 11 p.m. Tickets are available at the chamber.
