DESTIN – A man said his girlfriend’s nose was bloody and swollen because she fell into the bedroom window. He also said that was why he had blood on his left hand and foot.
An Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy wasn’t buying it.
The man and woman, who’ve been together two years, live at a Vinings Way Boulevard residence. They were drinking when they became embroiled in an argument. The woman said the man started punching her in the face and head. She managed to get away to the living room, but he followed and resumed hitting her until she told him she was calling 911. He stopped and said if law enforcement arrived they’d arrest her, not him. Then, he promptly went to sleep on the couch.
The deputy noted the woman had blood on her face and forearms, and her nose was starting to swell. There was also blood in the bedroom, on a wall in the living room, and on the floor and kitchen counter. The man had blood on his hand and foot.
The man told the deputy he got blood on him when he want to check on his girlfriend after she fell into the bedroom window. The deputy noted there was no blood on the curtains, the blinds were undisturbed, and there were no marks on the window.
The man was charged with battery. His plea date is Sept. 17.
