FORT WALTON BEACH – A man who went on a rampage, targeting his girlfriend and his father with beer bottles, doors and ashtrays, has been arrested for battery and other charges.
On July 20, witnesses say, the 29-year-old Fort Walton Beach man became angry with his girlfriend (the arrest report didn’t say about what) at the residence they share with his father and pitched a temper tantrum, according to Fort Walton Beach Police. He began throwing items like glass jars, beer bottles, a TV and a microwave around the room.
During the tantrum his girlfriend was struck in the left hip and left shin with beer bottles, injuring her.
The man’s father tried to intervene and became a target of the defendant, according to the report. He slammed the door in his father’s face and kicked it shut, damaging the door. Then, the report indicated, he threatened to hurt or kill his father, causing his father to fear for his well-being.
“I don’t know what he’s capable of anymore … he scares me,” the officer quoted the father as saying.
He told officers his son threw an ashtray at him, hitting him in the foot.
The man was charged with battery, assault and possession of a concealed weapon.
His plea date is Aug. 6.
