Accused sandal-napper leaves trail of empty boxes

RESTVIEW – A woman is accused of trying to make off with sandals from a local store after the owner noticed empty boxes where the woman had been trying them on, according to an arrest report.

On June 21 a Crestview Police officer went to Kim’s Beauty Supply on James Lee Boulevard to check into an attempted shoplifting complaint.

According to the owners, a 49-year-old Crestview woman was in their store trying on sandals when they noticed empty boxes where the woman had been trying them on. The woman bought four pairs of sandals and left the store, but one of the owners confronted the woman outside the store and demanded she return the missing sandals. The woman handed them over and said she’d pay for them if the owner didn’t file charges against her.

She later told an officer, “I told them I will pay and they won’t file charges on me.” The owner decided to file charges.

The woman has a July 9 plea date.
