FORT WALTON BEACH — A woman was arrested early Friday after her vehicle hit a motorcyclist and dragged him about 100 feet on Hollywood Boulevard, according to Fort Walton Beach police.
Robert Pownall, 41, of Miramar Beach, was driving a 2012 ASPT Kit motorcycle east on Hollywood near Bass Avenue when a 2007 Mercury Mountaineer driven by Maritza Collado, 39, of Shalimar, hit him from behind, Sgt. Mark Hayse said.
Pownall was knocked off his motorcycle and was dragged about 100 feet, Hayse said.
Collado then drove through the parking lot of the Shell gas station on Beal Parkway and into the Gary Smith Ford lot, where she hit two 2013 Hondas. Witnesses and police stopped her before she could drive off, Hayse said.
Pownall was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center with numerous injuries.
Collado was charged with driving under the influence and causing serious bodily harm; failure to stop or remain at a crash involving injury; leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage; and leaving the scene of an accident without leaving identification.
She was taken to the Okaloosa County Jail and released later Friday on $8,500 bond.
