CRESTVIEW – A woman is in trouble with the law after she left three of her four kids in a car to order a cake and grocery shop at a local discount store, according to an arrest report.
The incident occurred May 8 at the Walmart store on Ferdon Boulevard. A customer noticed the children in the car without any supervision and told store personnel, who notified an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy who was at the store. The deputy notified the Crestview Police Department.
The woman was identified as 24-year-old Amanda Joanne White of Crestview. She told officers she needed to order a birthday cake and pick up some items for one of her kids’ birthday. She said two of the children – a 1-month-old and a 1-year-old – were asleep, so she told her 5-year-old son to watch them while she ran inside with her 2-year-old daughter. She said she left the windows rolled down and the keys in the ignition in case her son wanted to start the car to run the air conditioner.
She faces three counts of child neglect without great harm. Her court date is June 25.
