Shalimar man faces child porn charges

Shalimar resident Joshua Douglas Taylor made a first appearance in federal court in Pensacola on Tuesday to face charges of receiving and possessing child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

A federal grand jury has indicted Taylor on three child-porn charges. The indictment charges he received, transported and possessed child pornography between October 2011 and February 2012.

The indictment followed an investigation led by the North Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The Okaloosa and Walton County sheriff’s offices, the FBI and Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations also were involved, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release said.

Taylor’s trial is scheduled for July 8 in Pensacola before U.S. District Judge M. Casey Rodgers.

Taylor, 23, faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted, the news release said.
