GULF BREEZE - A man was listed in serious condition Thursday after crashing into a utility pole on U.S. Highway 98, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Ilan Danino, 39, of Gulf Breeze, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier east on U.S. Highway 98 in the outside lane at about 5:24 p.m. when an unknown vehicle began to slow to turn right, according to an FHP news release.
Danino moved to the inside lane and lost control of the Cavalier, according to FHP. He veered onto the median, overcorrected and rolled the car several times across the eastbound lanes and onto the south shoulder, the FHP reported. The Cavalier stopped when it hit a utility pole.
Danino was taken to Baptist Hospital.
He was to be charged with careless driving. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
