BRUCE — A flood warning continues for the Choctawhatchee River near Bruce, according to the National Weather Service.
At 7:01 a.m. Wednesday, the river was at 17.8 feet, or 4.8 feet above flood stage.
The river is expected to crest at 18.8 feet tonight, the National Weather Service reported.
A shelter at Bruce United Methodist Church remained open Wednesday after the Walton County Sheriff’s Office issued a voluntary evacuation Tuesday for residents in low-lying areas of County Road 181C to the mouth of the Choctawhatchee River.
No one was at the shelter at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Several roads and bridges remained closed Wednesday in Walton, Okaloosa and Santa Rosa counties.
In Walton County, John’s Lane, Padgett Road from Scott Road to County Road 183B, River Road, Cedar Log Lake boat ramp parking lot, Pen Williams Road from BA Kelley to Punchbowl Road and Berrian Lake Road were closed.
In Okaloosa County, Old Dorcas Road at the Shoal River, County Line Road from County Road 393 to 152 County Line Road, Ellis Road, Bryant Bridge Road, Peaden Bridge Road and Charles Booker Road were closed.
In Santa Rosa County, Deaton Bridge and Bryant Bridge in the Blackwater River State Park were closed.
