FORT WALTON BEACH — A 46-year-old woman remains in serious condition after she was hit by a truck Monday evening while walking her dog.
Marjorie Clark of Fort Walton Beach was walking eastbound on U.S. Highway 98 at 6:24 p.m. at the intersection of Eglin Parkway more than halfway done with crossing the street when she was hit by a vehicle, according to the Fort Walton Beach Police crash report.
William C. Richardson, 38, was turning left in a 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck from Hwy. 98 onto Eglin Parkway when he hit Clark, the report said. The impact caused Clark to fall and suffer serious head trauma.
First aid was rendered by witnesses at the scene until officials with Fort Walton Beach Police and Okaloosa County EMS could transfer her to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.
Clark is currently listed as a trauma patient.
Sgt. Tom Matz said the woman's dog was not injured and taken home by Clark's husband.
Investigators suspect Richardson of Jacksonville, Fla., violated Clark’s right-of-way by not yielding to the pedestrian crossing the sidewalk, the report said. No arrest has been made.
Richardson’s passenger, 28-year-old Nichole L. Blackmon of Fort Walton Beach, was arrested on unrelated charges from an active arrest warrant.
