FORT WALTON BEACH - A woman holed up in an apartment while deputies stood outside shouting for her to show herself neglected to lock the door, allowing deputies to enter and find her.
On Feb. 18 Okaloosa County Sheriff's deputies who were trying to serve a warrant learned the 33-year-old Fort Walton Beach woman was at a Union Street apartment and would be there only an hour.
A deputy tried to contact the inhabitants at the front door and saw somebody peek out of the blinds. He announced his presence several times, identified himself, and said he was here to serve a warrant.
The deputy tried the front door and found it was open, so he opened the door and announced his presence. A man came into the hallway from a bedroom and told them nobody else was in the apartment.
The deputy and another lawman entered the apartment and began a search. As they were checking the kitchen, the woman came out of a bedroom. She initially didn't cooperate but the threat of a Tasing compelled her to let them put on the handcuffs.
The report didn't describe the nature of the original warrant.
She was charged with resisting without violence. Her court date is March 12.
