DORCAS — Friends and strangers are rallying to help a family of five who was burned out of their home Wednesday.
Dorcas Volunteer Fire Department Chief John Polinsky, who offered the station as a drop-off site for donations, said the phone rang constantly Thursday morning with folks calling to find out how to help.
Tammy and Ritchie Golden rushed out of their burning home on Spruce Lane with their 10-year-old granddaughter and their two adult daughters, one pregnant and the other a paraplegic.
Everything in the home was destroyed, including baby shower gifts and clothing belonging to their adult son, Ritchie, and his 3-year-old son, Ritchie.
No one was injured. They family is staying at the Hampton Inn in Crestview where Tammy works.
“I want to tell everyone thank you so much and thank you for your prayers,” she said, crying. “It takes something like this to know that there are a lot of really good people in the world.
“We’re really blessed.”
