DeFUNIAK SPRINGS — A 43-year-old man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a single-vehicle rollover wreck on County Road 1087.
Ronald S. Murphy of DeFuniak Springs was a passenger in a 2003 Nissan pickup truck being driven south on CR 1087 when the truck overturned and he was ejected, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The driver failed to negotiate a curve about 3:35 p.m. and drifted onto the west shoulder, the FHP reported.
The driver, whose identification is pending further investigation, veered back across the road onto the east shoulder. The truck went airborne and overturned several times before stopping. Damage was estimated at $10,000, according to the FHP.
Murphy died at the scene. A second passenger, 43-year-old Thomas E. Molinets, was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in serious condition, the FHP reported.
The investigation is continuing.
