NICEVILLE — Two dogs died in a house fire early Friday afternoon.

Firefighters with the North Bay Fire Control District were alerted at 12:50 p.m. to smoke coming from a home on Chadwick Lane, according to Operations Chief Butch Parker.
The resident, who rents the property, was not home at the time of the blaze.
When they arrived at the scene, flames were coming from the roof. It took 20 minutes to extinguish the fire.
The home was considered a total loss, Parker said.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office was called to investigate the cause of the fire.
