Habitat for Humanity of Walton County dedicated it’s 27th and 28th homes last weekend in DeFuniak Springs.
Both families gradated from the Walton County Housing Authority’s Family Self-Sufficiency Program and have purchased their Habitat for Humanity homes.
Ana Vo was living in and running a daycare business out of a two-bedroom trailer, according to a press release from Habitat. Now the single mother of two has a three-bedroom home on Wren Drive with a fenced-in back yard where the children can play.
Stella Justice, who has a full-time job and is a student at Northwest Florida State College, is the recipient of the second home, located on Seminole Drive in DeFuniak Springs, the release said.
“Over recent years, funding for the Walton County Housing Authority has been on a decline and partnering with this agency to better serve our county has been tremendous," says Teresa Imdieke, Executive Director of Walton County Habitat for Humanity.
"Our organization is a helping hand, and not a hand out. It is very rewarding to watch individuals work so hard through sweat equity to achieve home ownership and transition away from governmental assistance.”
