NICEVILLE – A woman who suspected her husband was cheating on her and had the evidence on his phone threatened him with scissors and gave him a walloping, according to an arrest report.
The marital battle commenced at an Evans Street residence, Niceville Police say. When officers responded to a physical disturbance call they were told by 58-year-old Nancy Estrella Crawford that she and her husband were arguing about messages on his phone. She wanted him to give her his cell phone because she believed he was cheating on her. He refused and stood up from the bed where they were talking. She allegedly grabbed the hood of his sweater, pulled him down to her, jumped on his back with a pair of scissors in her hand and told him “she could kill him with the scissors if she wanted to,” the officer wrote in the report.
“As she made this statement, Nancy had the scissors to Willie’s neck and he felt threatened for his life,” the report indicated.
The husband rolled off Crawford and the two of them tumbled to the floor, where he was able to get the scissors away from her and throw them away. She began punching him in the face and he bit her forearm to escape, the report said.
An officer noted Crawford had two bite marks on her arm. “(Her husband’s) face was bleeding from his nose, lips and mouth,” the officer wrote in the report.
Crawford was charged with assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, and battery. Her plea date is Jan. 7.
