CRESTVIEW — Roger and Sarah Brooks live by their routine. For parents of 8-month-old triplets, that’s how to survive.
“Can you grab Rosie and Ryan? I’ll get Roger,” Sarah said to her husband as the family of five sat on their couch for a photo.
Roger, who serves in the Marine Corps at Eglin Air Force Base, positioned Ryan in one arm before reaching down to grab Rosaline.
“There’s no real technique to carrying two,” he said as he sat down next to his wife and Roger III. “I do it different every time.”
There were no complications during Sarah’s pregnancy, but on March 14 the triplets were born seven weeks earlier than expected.
“They were in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) after birth because they were so early,” Sarah said. “Rosie was there for a week and the boys were there for three weeks.”
Roger and Sarah stayed at Ronald McDonald House in Pensacola, which caters to parents of children at Sacred Heart Hospital. They stayed there for 21 days waiting for their children to be well enough to go home.
“We could breathe a little while we had so much going on,” Sarah said. “That was such an emotional time because we were away from our children, so it was nice to have a place that felt like home.”
Now, the new parents take each day as it comes. Roger is starting to crawl, Rosaline seems interested in crawling and Ryan is just happy sitting in his dad’s lap.
“Our house will never be spotless again and we’ve had to learn to be morning people, but we’re happy and they’re healthy,” Sarah said as she watched Roger put his pacifier in his mouth upside down. “We’re very happy.”
