NWF State College to start new program

NICEVILLE — Northwest Florida State College is starting another new program.

Beginning with the spring semester, students will be able to earn CNC machinist certifications and enter into the high-wage, high-demand field of engineering technology.

“Northwest Florida State College continues to meet the demand for our growing workforce in Northwest Florida,” said Ray Rickman, chair of Advanced Technology and Design. “Demand for mechanical engineering technicians and CNC machinists is expected to grow by 9 percent from 2012 to 2020.
There are numerous career opportunities for those who can master new software and technology, as well as traditional manual skills, and we can train them for all of those skills.”

The Engineering Technology associate’s degree and certificate programs prepare students for employment and provide training for those employed in the manufacturing, electronics, aerospace, or related industries. The program includes communication and technical skills, safe and efficient work practices, and a combination of theory and laboratory activities necessary to support engineering design, processes, production, testing and product quality.

Spring semester enrollment is going on now at www.nwfsc.edu.
