FORT WALTON BEACH - A man who allegedly strangled and beat his pregnant girlfriend was arrested Friday.
After assaulting his girlfriend Aug. 18, Andre Terrell McKinnon, 41, refused to let her leave their home for several hours, according to the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Task Force.
At 6:30 a.m. Friday, officers with the Task Force arrived at the home on Village Court.
The victim answered the door and said she hadn’t seen McKinnon since the incident. However, McKinnon tried to slip out the home’s back door and was caught by officers, the U.S. Marshals Office reported.
McKinnon resisted arrest but eventually was handcuffed.
He was charged with domestic violence by strangulation, aggravated battery-knowing the victim was pregnant and false imprisonment.
He was taken to the Okaloosa County Jail.
