DeFUNIAK SPRINGS— Beginning with its meeting Tuesday, Walton County will begin the live streaming and archiving of its County Commission meetings, officials have announced.
Live streams will be available for all regularly scheduled commission meetings, and all video will be archived on the county’s website about 15 minutes after the completion of the meeting, according to a news release from the county.
In addition to the live streaming and archiving of the meetings, the county also will provide enhanced online agendas and meeting information on its website. Each agenda will contain links to supporting documents prior to the meeting.
The live and archived video page can be accessed on the county’s website, www.co.walton.fl.us, by clicking on the “BCC Meeting Video” button on the left-hand side of all interior pages or from the homepage by clicking the “BCC Meeting Video” button in the Citizen Help Center.
“The ability to stream our meetings live to the public as well as offer them archived video of past meetings is a big step in providing increased access to our meetings,” Louis Svehla, the county’s public information manager, said in the news release.
“The video, coupled with our new linked agendas, will be a wonderful addition to how the public can access information about items that will come before the board as well as research past board action.”
In addition to being able to view all agenda items and documents prior to the meeting, the video viewer used for live streaming and archive video will include the live link agenda in the frame. The linking of the agenda to the video player will allow residents to view and access links on the agenda while viewing the meeting online in real time or archived following the meeting. Also, each item will be time-stamped based on the agenda. This time-stamping will allow the public to skip to the specific item on the agenda that they wish to view.
The live streaming will begin a few minutes before each meeting is called to order and will last for the entire meeting. The contents of the full meeting will be archived for viewing following each meeting and will be done so without edits.
