FORT WALTON BEACH – Police say they had to Taser a man to get him to stop resisting their domestic violence investigation.
In late July two Fort Walton Beach Police officers went to a Coral Drive residence to check out a report of domestic violence. They were greeted at the door by two women, who let them into the house. They went to the back bedroom, where the 38-year-old suspect was sleeping.
They found him on the floor near a back door, an officer wrote in an arrest report. When they woke him up and said they needed to talk to him, he began screaming and waving his hands, they said. He refused to cooperate and when the officers tried to handcuff him, they say he resisted, pulling his arms away and yelling at them.
Once he was handcuffed, they started to lead him down the hallway. They say he resumed physically resisting them. At that point a third officer Tased him.
He was charged with resisting arrest, both with and without violence, and domestic battery. His court date was not available.
