VALPARAISO — Firefighters responded to a call of an explosion near American Athletic Uniforms on Eastview Avenue shortly after 1:30 p.m. Monday.
People inside the business said they saw a white car drive by, shoot something out of it and then they felt an explosion that shook the walls, said Valparaiso Fire Chief Mark Norris.
After a brief investigation, firefighters determined that someone in the car had likely shot firecrackers out of the car towards the building before fleeing. Additional back-up firefighters were called off.
Shortly after a similar incident was reported in a residential neighborhood nearby, Norris said.
No injuries or damage were reported.
Police were searching for a white Chevrolet Malibu or Impala that they believed was involved in the incident, Norris said.
