FORT WALTON BEACH – A man who stopped at a park – with crack cocaine in his truck – was arrested for drug possession, lawmen say.
The incident occurred July 12 at Fort Walton Landing on Brooks Street in Fort Walton Beach, according to an arrest report. An officer was conducting a foot patrol in the park when he came across 24-year-old Richard James Rufess Royster Jr. sitting in a pickup truck. The officer noticed a folded business card on the center console that contained a while, powdery substance.
He and another officer detained Royster and searched his truck. They found an Altoids tin can near where he had been sitting, and inside was a rock of crack.
Royster admitted he was about to smoke crack, that the razor blade was his, and the Altoids can with the rock of crack was his.
He was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
His court date is Aug. 13.
