NAVARRE — A 20-year-old man was arrested on charges of lewd and lascivious offense on a person between 12 and 16 shortly after applying to be a deputy at the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office.
During the application process at the Sheriff’s Office, it is a common practice to perform a detailed background investigation. The background checks include a Computer Voice Stress Analyze examination and detailed interviews with references.
In May, James Rudd Moore of Navarre applied to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office seeking employment as a deputy sheriff.
During the process of the background investigation, it was determined Moore was having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a juvenile.
During the course of the investigation, enough evidence was uncovered that a warrant was signed by a Santa Rosa County Judge.
Moore was arrested July 11 on a $30,000 bond at the Santa Rosa County Jail.
