Man hits utility poles, used cars during Sunday accident

FORT WALTON BEACH — Officials are investigating a crash Sunday evening that caused thousands in damages and left one man in serious condition.

Daryl Lee Stevens of Fort Walton Beach was driving a 1997 four-door BMW southbound on Lewis Turner Boulevard around 10:18 p.m. when he traveled off the roadway and onto the southbound shoulder, according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.

The BMW drove in a southwesterly direction, striking two small poles, a utility pole and two parked cars in the FWB Auto Brokers’ parking lot, the report said. The accident caused around $10,000 in damages to the vehicle.

An estimate on the other damages was not provided.

Stevens, 27, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.

Charges are pending further investigation, according to the report.
