DESTIN — Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputies were investigating an apparent suicide in a city parking lot off Mountain Drive Sunday afternoon.
Shortly after 1:30 p.m. deputies were called to the southwest corner of Mountain and Marler Street.
A man was slumped against a live oak tree next to what was apparently his car parked in the lot.
He died at the scene.
His body was covered with a sheet and a portion of the parking lot was shut down while investigators worked to determine cause of death.
They believe the incident was a suicide and that there was no foul play involved, said Michele Nicholson, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office.
