Flood advisories remain in effect

With more thunderstorms predicted for the rest of the weekend and the soil already saturated from days of rain, flash flood and flooding advisories remain in effect for much of northwest Florida.

Many areas have received 4 to 8 inches of rain over the past few days. Some areas have been deluged with 10 to 14 inches of rain.

Additional rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches will be possible with isolated higher amounts.

A flood warning is in effect for Walton County until further notice.

The Choctawhatchee River near Bruce was at 15.5 feet 2 a.m. Saturday. Flood stage is 13 feet. The river is forecast to continue rising to 16.8 feet by Monday evening before falling.

Anyone near the river should continue monitoring forecasts. Do not drive into flooded areas.

A flash flood watch is in effect 7 p.m. Saturday in Walton County.

A flood warning is in effect for Santa Rosa County until 11:45 a.m. Saturday. A flood warning is in effect for Okaloosa County until 11:15 p.m. Saturday.

At 4 a.m. Saturday the Blackwater River near Baker was at 12.1 feet. Flood stage is 11 feet. The river will rise to 13.2 feet this afternoon before beginning to recede.

A flash flood watch is in effect for Okaloosa and Santa Rosa County until Sunday morning.

High surf and a high chance of rip currents are possible at local beaches. Please follow local beach advisories.
