Employee says woman tried to leave store with paint in her purse

NICEVILLE – A local woman is in hot water after a loss prevention employee at a discount store saw her putting bottles of paint in her purse and trying to leave the store without paying for them.

On June 20 the woman was seen entering Walmart on John Sims Parkway and going to the art supplies department. A loss prevention officer saw the woman remove labels from bottles of paint, then put the bottles in her purse, according to a report from the Niceville Police Department. She also put a handkerchief in her purse.

The employee said the woman tried to leave the store, but was stopped by loss prevention workers, who had her come back into the store.

She was charged with shoplifting and has a July 23 court date.
