FORT WALTON BEACH – A woman claimed she was weaving in and out of traffic because she dropped her mobile phone and accidentally swerved. But it was her failure to appear for a court date that got her in trouble, lawmen say.
On June 8 Fort Walton Beach Police received a report of a reckless driver swerving around through traffic. An officer found the vehicle at the Raceway gas station on Miracle Strip Parkway and questioned the driver, a 31-year-old Fairhope, Ala., woman. She said she swerved in traffic because she dropped her phone.
When the officer checked records, he discovered she had an active warrant for failure to appear out of Santa Rosa County. She was arrested.
Her court date was not listed on the arrest report.
