FORT WALTON BEACH – A man told lawmen he was in a happy mood after smoking marijuana, taking Xanax and drinking beer, which does not explain why he was yelling and cursing at police officers who found him outside a convenience store.
On June 7 a Fort Walton Beach Police officer was checking out The Pit Stop on Hollywood Boulevard when he found the Fort Walton Beach man walking next to the store drinking a beer. The officer reported he appeared to be very drunk, as he was staggering, angry, had slurred speech, and his eyes were glassy. He was yelling and cursing officers in the parking lot.
Officers told him to calm down several times, but he refused and was arrested, according to a department arrest report.
The man told officers he’d smoked marijuana, and took Xanax with some beer, and “was in a happy mood,” the officer wrote in the report.
He was charged with disorderly intoxication and will report to court on June 25.
