NICEVILLE – Officers are looking into incidents involving bears, hell-raising rock band members, and air-conditioner thieves, according to paperwork from the Niceville Police Department.

On May 23 a resident of Reeves Street reported an air-conditioner had been stolen from a house he owns. He said earlier in the week he’d come by the residence and remembered the air conditioner being there, but he returned to the residence later in the week and the unit was gone. All the doors and windows were secured, and there was no sign of forced entry. The case is under investigation.

On May 24 a person called the department to report two black bears were crossing John Sims Parkway and heading towards the Goodyear store. An officer went out to look for them but couldn’t find them.

The next day, another caller reported seeing a mother bear and two cubs on Partin Drive near the intersection with Bayshore Drive. Again, an officer was dispatched but could find no bears.

On May 26 associates of the rock band Hell Yeah took a golf cart and drove through the Mullet Festival site, traveling through a tent area and smashing into a fold-out table. They continued driving, dragging the table top with them. They were stopped and may have to compensate the table owner.
