DeFUNIAK SPRINGS — A 22-year-old man was found guilty today of sexual battery on a minor.
Riordan Edward Boblitt was convicted of lewd and lascivious battery on a victim 12 years of age or older but less than 16 and attempted sexual battery on a victim 12 years of age or older, according to a news release from the First Judicial Circuit State Attorney's Office.
Boblitt was arrested in August 2012 after he was accused of molesting a girl beginning when she was 7-years-old.
The girl testified during the trial that in December 2009, when she was 12, she also had sex with Boblitt.
The Zephyr Hills, Fla., man tried to have sex with her again in May 2011 when she was 14, according to a State Attorney’s Office press release.
Circuit Judge Frank Bell presided over the trial and Assistant State Attorney Jennifer A. Lieb prosecuted the case.
Sentencing is scheduled for July 16. Boblitt faces 20 years in a state prison and he will be designated a sexual offender.
Two additional cases against Boblitt are still pending, the release said.
The initial investigation was conducted by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office and the Children’s Advocacy Center.
