FORT WALTON BEACH — A Fort Walton Beach woman is searching for her pet of nearly eight years — a special needs cat named Dante.
Alex McAllaster returned from a six-week sailing trip to find her cat missing and her roommate reluctant to talk about it, McAllaster said. She called in law enforcement officers, who learned that the roommate gave the cat to someone in the Sam's Club parking lot about two weeks ago.
"You could have burned the house down, I wouldn't have cared," she said. "But you screwed with my cat."
McAllaster has checked SOCKS and PAWS repeatedly, but has not found her cat. Dante has a bladder problem, which means he cannot eat dry food.
She is offering a reward for the return of her cat. Anyone with information should call 850-582-2285.
