Woman slaps daughter, gets herself arrested for abuse

CRESTVIEW – A woman was arrested by Crestview Police after she allegedly slapped her daughter in the face, scratching her neck.

The confrontation occurred May 20 at a Southern Court residence. It began when the mother told the daughter to put up their clothes. The girl refused and became “verbal and disrespectful with the defendant,” the officer wrote in the arrest report.

The woman is said to have slapped the 16-year-old on the left side of her face. Then, she tried to take away the girl’s cell phone, but the girl resisted and the mother hit her again, causing her to fall backward over a clothes basket. She stood over her and yelled at her, striking her several times.

The apparent attack left scratch marks on the girl’s neck and at the corner of her eye.

The woman was charged with child abuse. Her court date is July 9.
