SANTA ROSA BEACH - An intoxicated wedding guest was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly attacking a security guard and responding deputies at a property on Goldenrod Circle, according to the Walton County Sheriff's Office.

When deputies arrived, they found the man, later identified as 39-year-old Terry Hays of Lakeland, Fla., being held on the ground by the bloody security guard, the Sheriff's Office news release reported. Hays was still "growling and combative."

When a deputy identified himself as law enforcement, Hays told the deputy he would kill him, the news release reported.

The security guard told deputies Hays became confrontational at the wedding and tried to leave in his vehicle, the news release reported. The security guard tried to stop him, starting a fight. The guard was pushed and then charged by Hays, who then took his car keys and stabbed the guard several times in the back of the head.

As deputies tried to check on the guard, Hays got up and  delivered "a glancing blow to the right temple and forehead." The deputy Tazed Hays and got him to the ground. Hays continued to resist the deputies, and was Tazed again.

Hays was then handcuffed and put in the deputy's car. He then kicked one of the rear windows out. His legs were then restrained.

The security guard was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast.

Hays was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, criminal mischief over $200 but less than $1,000, resisting with violence, and disorderly conduct. He was taken to Walton County Jail on no bond.
