NICEVILLE – A 19-year-old told police he was being chased by a woman who tried to crash her vehicle into his. Of more significance, at least to the officers, was the telltale odor of marijuana coming from inside his car.
On April 17 Niceville Police received a call about a vehicle following another vehicle. They went to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on John Sims Parkway and found the 19-year-old sitting in a black Nissan. He said a lady was chasing him and tried to hit his vehicle several times. The arrest report didn’t say why.
Meanwhile, officers smelled marijuana inside the car and asked him if he had anything that would get him in trouble. At first he said no, but then he handed the officers two roaches.
Officers asked if there was anything else in the car. He told them there wasn’t and gave them permission to search it. They immediately found a plastic bag containing a green, leafy substance on the driver’s side floorboard. When they asked him about the bag, he said he’d forgotten it was there.
He was charged with marijuana possession not more than 20 grams. His court date is May 7.
