FORT WALTON BEACH – A local man was arrested after he choked his girlfriend, according to an arrest report.
On April 15 a Fort Walton Beach Police officer went to a Cape Drive residence after being told about the alleged choking. A woman told the officer her boyfriend, 39-year-old Tony Streeter of Fort Walton Beach, choked her after accusing her of stealing money from him.
She said she was sleeping when he woke her up and accused her of the theft. He put his hands around her throat and choked her, she claimed. She told him the money was in a Christmas tree box in the living room, so he carried her into the living room, then back into the bedroom when he discovered the money wasn’t there. Then she said the money was in a box in her son’s bedroom. When Streeter left the room to look, she climbed out a window and fled. She said the money was hers.
Streeter told lawmen much the same story but did not mention the alleged choking.
The officer noted the woman had red marks on her throat. Streeter said they were either self-inflicted or happened when she jumped out the window.
He was charged with domestic violence. The charge is felony because he has three prior convictions.
His court date is May 28.
