FORT WALTON BEACH - A man was arrested on drug and driving charges Tuesday stemming from an incident March 10, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff‘s Office.
Mardrico Jarrelle Campbell, 26, of Cape Drive, allegedly ran from deputies after he was stopped for not having a license plate displayed.
A police dog found 18 grams of crack cocaine, 2 grams of powder cocaine, 8 grams of marijuana along the path Campbell fled.
After learning the vehicle was Campbell’s, a deputy met with him. In a sworn written statement, Campbell said a man named “Spider” borrowed the vehicle.
However, a surveillance video showed Campbell at a nearby convenience store with the vehicle less than 10 minutes before he was pulled over, the arrest report stated.
Campbell was arrested on Monahan Drive. He was charged with driving while license suspended or revoked; fraud — making a false statement on an official statement; resisting an officer without violence; cocaine possession with intent to sell; possession of a controlled substance without prescription; and possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana.
