NICEVILLE - A 49-year-old bicyclist remained hospitalized Thursday after she was hit by a sport utility vehicle in front of the Chick-fil-A on John Sims Parkway.
Linda Burke of Niceville was taken to Twin Cities Hospital after she was struck by motorist Mabel Arbour, 42, of Niceville, about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Arbour was preparing to turn onto John Sims and looked left, but said her foot must have slipped off the brake, according to Police Lt. Jimmy Macon. When she looked to the right, she had already hit Burke, who was bicycling on the sidewalk.
Burke said Thursday in a telephone interview from the hospital that her ankle was shattered, but she is expected to make a full recovery. She said she will likely be released from the hospital today.
The accident is under investigation.
