FORT WALTON BEACH— The U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force and Okaloosa County sheriff‘s deputies captured a man wanted for murder in Tennessee at a local motel Tuesday, according to the task force.

Coty Keith Holmes, 25, of Hillsborough, Tenn., was wanted for his alleged involvement in beating another to death with a ballpeen hammer, according to a news release issued Tuesday. The victim was found in a cornfield in Cowan, Tenn., in March.

The task force, working with information provided by the U.S. Marshals Smokey Mountain Fugitive Task Force, determined Coty was in the Fort Walton Beach area Monday, the news release said.

Officers moved in Tuesday after learning Holmes was about to check out of a motel at the corner U.S. Highway 98 and Beal Parkway.

Holmes was taken to Okaloosa County Jail and booked. He will be charged with first-degree homicide and felony murder, according to the news release.

Holmes was the third suspect arrested in connection to the killing.

A fourth suspect, David Gordan Jenkins, is still at large. Anyone with information of his whereabouts is asked to call 1-800-TBI-FIND or the Franklin County, Tenn., Sheriff‘s Office at 931-962-0623 or a local law enforcement agency.
