FORT WALTON BEACH - A man was arrested Thursday night after he fired a handgun twice in the air while intoxicated, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.
Jeremy Brooks Dolan, 32, of Fort Walton Beach, was talking on his cell phone on Bear Road when he fired the shots, according to his arrest report. Witnesses said he appeared aggravated because his girlfriend was cheating on him. They also said he appeared to be highly intoxicated.
Dolan ran off after he fired the shots, but a police dog that was tracking him and found a black Diamond Back 9mm semiautomatic handgun in some woods, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies found Dolan walking along Bear Road about 10 p.m. He was highly intoxicated, according to his arrest report.
Dolan was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, discharging a firearm in public and using a firearm while under the influence. He was taken to the county jail and was being held without bond.
