EGLIN AFB - A Georgia man was critically injured Friday night in a three-car crash on State Road 285 north of Bob Sikes Road on Eglin’s reservation, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

David Lampitt, 21, of Columbus, Ga., was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Impala south on SR 285 at 8:05 p.m. when he tried to pass a 1999 Honda Accord, an FHP news release said.

The Impala hit a northbound 1994 Pontiac Sunbird driven by Mike Cummings, 41, of Valparaiso head-on, the FHP reported. Lampitt then careened into the Honda, driven by 19-year-old Jamie Jensen-Barley. The Impala overturned and ended up on its roof.

Cummings was taken by helicopter to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola.

Lampitt and Jensen-Barley suffered less serious injuries.

The FHP was investigating the wreck late Friday.
