FORT WALTON BEACH – A man was arrested for stealing pipes from a local church and selling them for scrap metal.

The incident is said to have occurred last summer, but the suspect, 55-year-old Michael David Pierpoali of Fort Walton Beach, was not ar-rested until Feb. 23.

On June 5 the pastor at Hollywood Church of Christ reported several feet of water pipe had been stolen from beside the main church building. The pastor said he was in the process of replacing old piping and intended to sell the pipe for scrap and use the money to buy new piping. The pastor added he had found the stolen piping at Big Iron Metal Recycling on Hollywood Boulevard.

Paperwork filled out during the sale, and witness testimony, indicated the piping had been brought in by Pierpoali.

He was charged with dealing in stolen property. His court date is March 26.
