Identity thief, BB-gun shooters, tire slasher keep lawmen busy

NICEVILLE – An identity thief, BB-gun shooters and a tire slasher are keeping the Niceville Police Department busy these days.

On Feb. 25 a man called to say somebody had slashed all four tires on his pickup truck. An officer saw cut marks on all four tires. A witness saw who did it, according to the incident report, and an investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, on March 2 a man contacted the department to complain somebody was shooting a camper in his front yard with BB guns. He blamed it on kids. He said he noticed dings in the front window and found green BBs lying around the camper.

On March 4 a woman contacted the department to say she went to file her income tax return and it was rejected. She said she contacted the Internal Revenue Service and was told somebody had used her Social Security number to file a return. They advised her to file a police report and complete other paperwork before they could proceed.
