DESTIN – A man who beat his wife first took their 3-month-old daughter, who was lying on a mattress beside her mother, and moved her into a crib, lawmen report.
The incident occurred Feb. 24 at a Beach Drive residence, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office arrest report. The woman said her husband came home, entered their child’s room where she was lying on a mattress with the 3-month-old, picked up the infant, put her in a crib, then proceeded to strike the woman with an open hand. She tried to leave the residence with her baby but was stopped by the man, who then struck her as she was holding the baby.
The man said he did not strike his wife, that he and she were struggling for a cell phone and he pushed her hands away from him.
The man was charged with battery. He has a March 19 court date.
