Lawmen say man tried to eat bag of meth

CRESTVIEW – A man and woman with warrants for their arrest were found in a van and followed to a residence. There, the man tried to eat evidence of drug possession, Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputies say.

On Feb. 17 a deputy spotted a white van known to be associated with 27-year-old William David Deweber, and 22-year-old Rachel-Ann Estelle Brewer, no address listed for either. The deputy followed the van to a residence on McCurley Street and questioned the occupants. Deweber and Brewer in the back seat.

As the deputy tried to put Deweber in handcuffs, he suddenly dove to the floorboard and appeared to try to eat something. After he was restrained, deputies found a plastic bag with a substance inside that tested positive for methamphetamines. They also found a second bag that was torn open; it too contained meth. It was in an area that both Deweber and Brewer had access to.

They were both charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and will face a judge on that charge March 26.
