An Okaloosa County Sheriff's deputy investigating a possible burglary instead found a Destin resident smoking marijuana in his home, according to an arrest report.

The deputy was investigating a report of a "completely busted open" door of an apartment, the arrest report stated. He found the door slightly open and visible forced entry to the door frame. A light was on in the home and the smell of marijuana was coming from the home.

The deputy announced himself, and hearing an answer, went inside. A man identified himself as the home's resident, showing his license as proof.

A clear plastic container with a green leafy substance inside was sitting on the living room table, the man's arrest report stated. When the man went to put on pants, the deputy followed him as a precaution and noticed a "large ornate smoking pipe, or bong," in the closet.

The man told the deputy the bong was from high school, the arrest report stated.

The substance in the container was positive for marijuana. About 23.1 grams were in the container. The man was charged for possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of drug equipment.
